F2X16 V4 Description
Core Purpose
The F2X16 V4 IP Modem is an industrial IoT communication terminal designed to transmit data between remote equipment and centralized systems using public cellular networks. It allows machines such as industrial controllers, ATMs, and monitoring systems to send operational data over long distances without requiring wired infrastructure.
The device acts as a bridge between serial-based industrial equipment and cellular networks, enabling reliable remote connectivity. This makes it suitable for machine-to-machine (M2M) deployments where continuous data transmission is required.
Connectivity and Communication
The modem provides cellular communication through multiple network options depending on the model, including LTE, Cat.1, and GPRS connectivity. These options support different deployment environments, from high-speed LTE connections to lower bandwidth legacy networks used in wide industrial installations.
It supports embedded TCP/IP communication and can operate as a TCP server, allowing connected devices to transmit data directly to central platforms or cloud systems. The modem also supports APN configuration and can transmit data to multiple data centers simultaneously, improving redundancy and operational reliability.
Dual data center backup transmission ensures that if one server connection becomes unavailable, the device can continue sending data to an alternative destination. This helps maintain uninterrupted communication in critical monitoring and automation systems.
Monitoring and Control Integration
The modem includes built-in digital and analog interfaces for interacting with external equipment. It provides 3 digital inputs/outputs and 2 analog inputs, allowing industrial systems to connect sensors, switches, or other monitoring devices.
These inputs can be configured for different functions such as digital state monitoring, analog signal measurement, or pulse counting. This flexibility allows the modem to gather operational data directly from field devices and transmit it to remote management platforms.
Serial communication support through RS232 and RS485 interfaces allows the modem to integrate with existing industrial controllers and legacy equipment commonly used in automation environments. These interfaces enable reliable data exchange between machines and network infrastructure.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The device is designed for industrial environments with a wide power input range of DC 5–36V, allowing it to operate with various power systems commonly found in industrial installations.
Its metal enclosure with IP30 protection provides physical durability for indoor industrial deployments, while built-in protections such as reverse polarity protection and over-voltage protection help safeguard the device against electrical issues.
The modem operates in temperatures ranging from –35 °C to +75 °C, enabling stable operation in demanding environments such as equipment cabinets, outdoor enclosures, or industrial facilities. The compact housing measures 91 × 58.5 × 22 mm and weighs 205 g, allowing easy installation inside control panels or embedded systems.
