F7916 Description
Core Purpose
The F7916 V4 is a GPS + LTE IP modem designed for remote data transmission over public cellular networks. It enables field devices and industrial equipment to send operational data to centralized platforms. With built-in positioning support and serial connectivity, it bridges on-site systems with remote monitoring centers.
This device is built for IoT and M2M deployments where reliable wireless communication and location tracking are required.
Connectivity and Communication
The modem supports LTE FDD and LTE TDD, with fallback to legacy cellular technologies. LTE FDD supports up to 100 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink, enabling fast data exchange when required.
It includes an embedded TCP/IP protocol stack and supports transparent data transmission. This allows connected devices to send data directly to remote servers without complex configuration.
The device supports TCP server mode, APN access, and connection to data centers using domain names or IP addresses. Dual data center backup transmission and multi-data center synchronous transmission help maintain communication continuity.
RS232 and RS485 serial interfaces (with 1200–230400 bps baud rate support) allow integration with industrial controllers, meters, and legacy equipment.
Positioning and Tracking
The integrated GPS module supports multiple satellite systems including GPS, BDS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, and SBAS. Multi-constellation support improves positioning availability and stability in different environments.
Cold start time is ≤32 seconds, while hot start and recapture are ≤1 second. Positioning accuracy is <2.5 m (CEP50), with velocity measurement accuracy of <0.1 m/s (1σ).
GPS and BD power consumption is <25 mA @ 3.3V, helping maintain efficient operation in power-sensitive deployments.
Monitoring and I/O Capabilities
The device provides 3 digital I/O and 2 ADC inputs. These can be used for digital input/output control, pulse output, analog input, and pulse counting.
This allows the modem to collect external signals from sensors or trigger actions based on system events. It supports customizable TTL and ADC configurations where required.
Built-in watchdog and anti-drop mechanisms help maintain stable system operation during long-term deployments.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The modem operates on a wide DC 5–36V input range, with standard operation at DC 12V / 0.5A. Communication current consumption is 20–80 mA @ 12VDC, and standby consumption is 15–30 mA @ 12VDC.
It operates within a temperature range of –35°C to +75°C, with storage from –40°C to +85°C. Humidity tolerance is 95% (non-condensing).
RS232/RS485 and SIM/UIM interfaces include 15KV ESD protection. The power interface includes reverse phase protection and over-voltage protection.
