FNR500 Description
Core Purpose
The FNR500 is a dual-module 5G industrial router designed for long-distance data transmission over public cellular networks. It connects wired and wireless devices to 3G, 4G, or 5G networks and keeps them online in demanding environments. Built on an industrial 32-bit processor (880 MHz dual core), it runs an embedded real-time operating system to ensure stable and continuous operation.
Connectivity and Communication
The router supports 5G SA and NSA modes, with intelligent dual 5G switching. This allows automatic network changeover if one connection becomes unstable. It also supports 3G/4G/5G and wired WAN backup, helping maintain uninterrupted communication. With dual SIM and dual cellular modules, the device enables smart load balancing and failover between operators. This improves connection reliability in areas with varying network quality. Theoretical speeds reach up to 2.2 Gbps downlink on 5G NR ENDC and 2.0 Gbps on 5G SA Sub-6, supporting high-bandwidth data applications. For secure communication, it supports VPN protocols including PPTP, L2TP, IPSEC, GRE, and OpenVPN. Remote management is available through HTTPS, SSHD, SNMP, SYSLOG, and TELNET, allowing centralized device control.
Local Networking and Wi-Fi
The FNR500 includes 4 × Gigabit LAN ports and 1 × Gigabit WAN/LAN port, allowing multiple wired devices to connect simultaneously. It features Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. With 2×2 MIMO, theoretical wireless speeds reach 1.2 Gbps on 5.8 GHz. This supports high device density and stable local wireless networking. Mesh networking is supported with compatible devices, enabling flexible wireless expansion in larger deployments.
Security and Network Control
The router integrates SPI firewall protection, VPN passthrough, access control, URL filtering, NAT, VLAN, and DHCP management. These features allow administrators to segment networks, manage traffic, and restrict unauthorized access. It also supports frequency and cell locking, bridge mode, VxLAN, virtual IP, and PPPoE server functions for advanced network configurations.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The device supports a wide DC 9–36 V input range, with standard 12 V/1.5 A power supply. Operating current is under 1.1 A at 12 V. Its metal IP30 enclosure provides mechanical protection and system isolation. Built-in protections include 1.5 KV electromagnetic isolation on Ethernet ports, 15 KV ESD protection on SIM interfaces, and reverse polarity and over-voltage protection on the power interface. The router operates between –35 °C and +75 °C, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments. Compact dimensions (176 × 124.5 × 45 mm) and wall-mount support allow easy installation in control cabinets or equipment rooms.
