UF31 Description
Core Purpose
UF31 is a compact 5G modem designed to deliver high-speed wireless connectivity to field devices and embedded systems. It connects equipment to public cellular networks and converts that connection into Ethernet or USB internet access. By supporting both 5G NSA/SA and 4G LTE/WCDMA, it ensures compatibility across global mobile networks. This makes it suitable for deployments that require reliable broadband access without fixed-line infrastructure.
Connectivity and Communication
The device supports 5G SA/NSA with download speeds up to 2.5 Gbps, allowing bandwidth-heavy applications such as video transmission and real-time data exchange. When 5G is unavailable, it can operate on 4G LTE or 3G networks for broader coverage continuity. It provides one Gigabit Ethernet port and one USB 3.0 Type-C interface. This allows direct integration with routers, industrial controllers, computers, and embedded equipment. Security is handled through built-in firewall capabilities and VPN support, including IPsec and OpenVPN. These features help protect transmitted data when devices operate in public or remote environments. Remote configuration and monitoring are supported through Web GUI, CLI, and DeviceHub, enabling centralized management of multiple deployed units.
Positioning and Tracking
UF31 integrates GNSS positioning with support for GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, and QZSS. Multi-constellation support improves positioning availability and reliability in different geographic regions. This enables devices connected to UF31 to obtain accurate location information when required for tracking or location-aware applications.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The device operates on a wide 5–24 VDC input range and also supports 5V/3A power via USB Type-C. This flexibility allows integration into various systems without complex power conversion requirements. Typical power consumption is 3.9 W, supporting energy-efficient deployment. It operates within a temperature range of –20°C to +50°C and supports up to 95% non-condensing humidity. These specifications make it suitable for controlled industrial and outdoor cabinet environments.
Reliability and Protection
A built-in hardware watchdog automatically recovers the system from abnormal conditions. This helps maintain uptime in unmanned or remote installations. Ethernet isolation of 1.5 kV RMS adds an additional layer of electrical protection, improving deployment safety in industrial settings.
