WS523 Description
Core Purpose
The WS523 is a smart portable LoRaWAN socket built to make ordinary electrical appliances easier to control and monitor. It allows users to switch connected devices on or off locally using the button or remotely through a web platform. This makes it a simple way to bring wireless control to lights, fans, heaters, and other plug-in equipment without changing existing wiring.
Because it supports international socket standards, the device is practical for use across different regions and deployment types. Its plug-and-play design makes installation fast, especially in indoor environments where quick upgrades are preferred over permanent electrical work.
Connectivity and Communication
The socket uses LoRaWAN for long-range wireless communication, allowing it to stay connected over large indoor sites or across distributed facilities. With up to 15 km line-of-sight transmission, it is well suited for remote switching and status updates where Wi-Fi is not practical.
It also supports NFC for one-touch mobile setup, which helps speed up deployment and reduces manual configuration effort. Milesight D2D support adds ultra-low-latency local control, allowing the socket to react quickly to paired Milesight sensors even without relying on a gateway.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
Beyond simple switching, the WS523 continuously measures voltage, current, active power, power factor, and total energy consumption. This gives users a clear view of how much electricity connected equipment is using and helps support energy-saving decisions.
The built-in overload and overcurrent protection features improve operational safety by alerting users when connected devices exceed safe limits. A capacitor-based power outage alert also helps notify teams when mains power is interrupted, which is especially useful for critical indoor appliances.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The device operates on a wide 100–250 VAC range, making it suitable for common global power systems. Its compact body allows it to fit naturally into standard socket environments without needing additional mounting hardware.
With an operating temperature range of -20°C to +60°C and IP20 protection, it is designed for stable indoor use across offices, retail spaces, equipment rooms, and light industrial areas. The flame-retardant polycarbonate housing further supports safe daily operation.
Expansion and Control
The WS523 supports both local button control and remote switching schedules, including delay switch-on and switch-off actions. This helps automate appliances based on time-based routines or event triggers from other Milesight sensors.
Its compatibility with Milesight IoT Cloud and Development Platform makes it easy to include the socket in larger building automation or monitoring workflows. This is especially useful when multiple appliances need coordinated wireless control from a single interface.
