GL521MG Description
Core Purpose
The GL521MG is a battery-powered GNSS asset tracker designed to monitor the location and condition of valuable equipment or cargo. It is built for long-term deployments where wired power is not available. The device can be installed quickly on assets such as containers, equipment, or packages and then report location and status automatically.
Its design focuses on simple installation and reliable operation. The compact enclosure supports clip-on mounting options and optional magnetic mounting, allowing the tracker to be attached to a wide range of assets without complex installation.
Connectivity and Communication
The device communicates through LTE Cat M1 and NB-IoT (NB2) networks, allowing it to operate across wide-area cellular infrastructure while maintaining low power consumption. This makes it suitable for long-duration tracking where frequent battery replacement is not practical.
Position and status information can be transmitted through standard communication channels such as TCP, UDP, or SMS. The tracker also supports scheduled reporting, so organizations can define regular intervals for updates or receive reports when specific events occur.
Positioning and Tracking
Location tracking is handled by an integrated GNSS receiver capable of delivering positioning accuracy of under 2.5 meters in autonomous mode. This level of accuracy helps organizations identify the exact location of equipment, shipments, or containers in real-world environments.
The tracker can report its position based on scheduled intervals, motion events, or wake-up triggers. Geo-fence capabilities allow users to define virtual boundaries so that alerts can be generated whenever an asset enters or exits a designated area.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
The GL521MG includes several built-in monitoring functions that help detect asset movement and environmental changes. An internal 3-axis accelerometer enables motion detection and vibration feedback, allowing the system to report when an asset starts moving or experiences unexpected activity.
The device also includes internal temperature and light sensors. These sensors support environmental monitoring scenarios such as cold-chain logistics or warehouse storage, where conditions around the asset must be tracked and reported.
Power and Environmental Suitability
A 2400 mAh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery allows the device to operate for extended periods without wired power. In low-frequency reporting scenarios, the tracker can remain in standby for up to one year, making it suitable for long-term asset deployments.
The enclosure is rated IP67, which protects the device from dust and water exposure. Combined with an operating range of −20 °C to +60 °C, the tracker can function reliably in outdoor logistics environments, warehouses, and transport operations.
Expansion and Accessory Support
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.2) enables the GL521MG to connect with compatible wireless accessories. These may include sensor devices or identification tags that extend monitoring capabilities around the tracked asset.
The platform also supports wireless charging through compatible accessories, allowing devices to be recharged efficiently without physical connectors. This simplifies maintenance when multiple trackers are deployed across a fleet or facility.
