Core Purpose
The GL53MG Plus is a compact GNSS asset tracker designed for long-term monitoring of vehicles and mobile equipment. It is built to operate for extended periods using a large internal battery while reporting location and status information at scheduled intervals. The device is often installed discreetly on assets where reliable positioning and long standby time are important.
A programmable button on the device allows quick interaction, such as sending an alert or checking device status when needed. Its small enclosure also makes covert installation possible in vehicles or valuable assets.
Connectivity and Communication
The tracker communicates over LTE Cat M1 and NB-IoT networks, with 2G fallback for areas where low-power LTE coverage may be limited. This approach helps maintain connectivity across a wide geographic range while keeping power consumption low.
The device supports multiple communication methods such as TCP, UDP, and SMS reporting. These allow the tracker to transmit location updates, status reports, or alarm events to remote platforms used for monitoring fleets or assets.
BLE 5.2 is also integrated into the device, enabling wireless connection with nearby accessories or sensors. This allows the tracker to interact with additional monitoring devices without adding physical wiring.
Positioning and Tracking
The GL53MG Plus uses an integrated GNSS receiver to determine the location of the asset it is attached to. The system provides positioning accuracy of under 2 meters in typical conditions, allowing precise tracking of vehicles or equipment.
Location data can be reported at preset intervals through scheduled timing reports. In addition, the device can adjust reporting frequency automatically, sending updates more often when movement is detected and less frequently when the asset remains stationary.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
An internal 3-axis accelerometer allows the device to detect motion and changes in movement. This capability helps identify when a vehicle starts moving or when equipment is relocated.
Geo-fencing functions allow administrators to define virtual boundaries. When an asset enters or leaves these zones, the system can automatically generate alerts. These alerts are useful for security monitoring or operational control.
The tracker can also generate notifications such as low battery alerts and wake-up reports. These help ensure the device remains operational and visible to the monitoring platform.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The device uses a 4400 mAh lithium manganese dioxide battery designed for extended standby operation. Under low reporting frequency conditions, the tracker can operate for up to four years before the battery needs replacement.
Several power modes help manage energy usage. A power-saving mode extends standby time, while continuous tracking mode can be used when more frequent updates are required.
The enclosure is rated IP67, providing protection against dust and water. Combined with an operating temperature range of –20°C to +60°C, the device can be deployed in outdoor environments or harsh operating conditions.
