GL601CEU Description
Core Purpose
The GL601CEU is designed for long-term tracking of non-powered assets such as containers, trailers, and rail wagons. It combines satellite positioning with cellular communication so operators can see where assets are and how they move across large regions. The device is built for unattended deployment, making it suitable for logistics environments where regular maintenance is difficult.
A solar harvesting system works together with an internal rechargeable battery to sustain operation for extended periods. With regular solar exposure and low-frequency reporting, the tracker can operate for up to 10 years without manual battery replacement.
Connectivity and Communication
The tracker communicates through LTE Cat 1 with 3G and 2G fallback, helping maintain connectivity across different network areas. This allows assets moving across countries or regions to stay connected even where modern LTE coverage is limited.
Data can be transmitted using common communication protocols such as MQTT, TCP, UDP, or SMS. These options allow the device to integrate with various fleet management and asset tracking platforms. Over-the-air (OTA) control also enables remote configuration, firmware updates, and adjustment of reporting intervals without physical access to the device.
Positioning and Tracking
The GL601CEU uses a multi-constellation GNSS receiver that supports GPS, BeiDou, and GLONASS. Using multiple satellite systems improves positioning reliability and helps maintain accurate location tracking in different geographic regions.
Location accuracy can reach around 2 meters (CEP) under normal conditions. The tracker can adapt its reporting behavior depending on asset movement, sending frequent updates when moving and lower-frequency updates when stationary to conserve energy.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
The device includes several built-in monitoring functions to track asset status and detect unusual activity. Motion detection allows the tracker to recognize when an asset begins moving. This helps logistics teams know when containers or trailers leave a location.
A built-in light sensor supports tamper detection. If the device is removed or exposed unexpectedly, the system can trigger an alert. Geo-fencing also allows automatic notifications when an asset enters or exits defined areas.
Environmental monitoring is supported through an integrated temperature sensor. This enables periodic reporting of ambient conditions around the asset, which can be important for sensitive cargo or monitoring storage environments.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The GL601CEU is designed for long outdoor deployments. Its IP67 waterproof enclosure protects the device from dust and water exposure, making it suitable for harsh transportation environments.
The tracker operates in temperatures ranging from –20°C to +70°C, allowing use across diverse climates. Power is supplied by six internal lithium batteries supported by solar charging, reducing the need for maintenance and making the device practical for remote or long-duration tracking installations.
Expansion and Accessory Integration
The device supports BLE 5.0 connectivity, allowing it to work as a gateway for external sensors and accessories. For example, Bluetooth beacons, temperature sensors, or door sensors can be connected to expand monitoring capabilities.
Wi-Fi scanning is also included. This function can help identify nearby Wi-Fi networks for indoor positioning or trigger operational mode changes when assets enter specific environments.
