UC512 Description
Core Purpose
The UC512 is a LoRaWAN® solenoid valve controller designed to remotely manage DC latching solenoid valves in outdoor environments. It allows operators to open or close irrigation or water valves either locally or through network commands.
The device supports two solenoid interfaces, allowing control of multiple valves from a single unit. This makes it suitable for distributed irrigation systems, water infrastructure, and other applications where remote valve control improves operational efficiency.
Connectivity and Communication
The UC512 communicates using LoRaWAN®, a long-range wireless technology designed for low-power IoT deployments. This allows the device to operate across wide areas while transmitting small control and monitoring messages efficiently.
The controller supports multiple LoRaWAN operating classes, enabling flexible communication behavior depending on network requirements. For example, devices can operate in Class A or Class B modes, balancing energy consumption and responsiveness in different deployment scenarios.
Configuration and device setup can be performed through NFC using a mobile application. This simplifies installation by allowing technicians to configure the controller without opening the enclosure or connecting cables.
Monitoring and Control Capabilities
The UC512 provides two solenoid interfaces that support DC 12V latching solenoids. These interfaces allow the device to control valve opening and closing remotely through commands sent from an IoT platform.
In addition to valve control, the device includes two GPIO interfaces that can function as digital inputs or pulse counters. These inputs can be connected to flow meters or valve status sensors, enabling basic monitoring of water flow or system status.
Local rule support allows the controller to perform control actions without requiring continuous network connectivity. This ensures that valve automation can continue operating even if communication with the network is temporarily unavailable.
Power and Environmental Design
The UC512 is designed for long-term outdoor deployments where reliable power and environmental protection are required.
The device is powered by three ER26500 Li-SOCl2 batteries with a capacity of 9000 mAh each. This configuration enables very long operating life, exceeding 10 years in Class A operation under typical reporting conditions.
The enclosure is rated IP68, providing protection against dust and prolonged water exposure. Combined with an operating temperature range of –30 °C to 70 °C, the device can operate reliably in harsh environmental conditions.
Expansion and I/O Support
Two solenoid ports allow the UC512 to control multiple valves from a single controller, which simplifies installation in irrigation zones or distributed water control systems.
Two digital input interfaces expand the device’s capabilities by allowing integration with sensors such as flow meters or status switches. These inputs support pulse counting up to 4000 Hz, enabling accurate measurement of flow signals from compatible monitoring devices.
