VS373 Description
Core Purpose
The VS373 is designed to detect human falls using 60 GHz millimeter-wave radar sensing. Instead of cameras or wearable devices, it monitors movement through radar point-cloud data, allowing it to identify falls without physical contact. This approach helps maintain privacy while still providing reliable monitoring for safety-critical environments.
The device is built to continuously observe activity in indoor areas such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and care facilities. When a fall event is detected, the sensor can trigger alarms and send alerts so caregivers or staff can respond quickly.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
The sensor analyzes movement patterns in real time to identify fall events with a recognition rate of up to 99% and a false alarm rate down to 1% under recommended conditions. This helps reduce unnecessary alerts while ensuring real incidents are detected.
Beyond fall detection, the device can also perform occupancy monitoring and in-bed detection. For example, if a person leaves the bed during a scheduled monitoring period, the system can trigger an alert. The radar technology also allows reliable operation in low-light or dark environments because it does not depend on visible light.
Connectivity and Communication
The VS373 connects through LoRaWAN® wireless communication, allowing the sensor to transmit alerts and monitoring data to compatible gateways and network servers. This makes it suitable for large facilities where many sensors must report to a centralized monitoring platform.
The device also supports the Milesight D2D protocol, enabling direct device-to-device communication with very low latency. This allows local automation scenarios, such as triggering alarms or interacting with other Milesight devices without relying on a gateway.
For setup and configuration, the sensor provides 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi in AP mode, allowing installers to quickly configure parameters during deployment.
Alarm and Notification System
When a fall or abnormal event is detected, the VS373 can trigger both local and remote alerts. The device includes a built-in buzzer and multi-color LED indicator for immediate on-site notification.
At the same time, alarm information can be transmitted to a backend platform through the network. This ensures caregivers or facility staff receive notifications quickly so they can respond to potential emergencies.
Installation and Environmental Design
The sensor is intended for ceiling installation at heights between 2.3 m and 3 m, allowing it to monitor a 4 m Ă— 5 m detection area below. This positioning enables reliable movement analysis across a room.
Its IP65-rated enclosure protects the device from dust and moisture, making it suitable for environments such as bathrooms or care facilities. The unit operates within a 0 °C to 50 °C temperature range and is powered through a 5 V / 3 A Type-C connection, making installation straightforward in indoor environments.
