WID330 Description
Core Purpose
The WID330 is a Bluetooth beacon designed for identifying and monitoring physical assets in environments such as warehouses and logistics facilities. It continuously broadcasts a Bluetooth signal that nearby tracking devices can detect, allowing systems to determine where tools, equipment, or other items are located.
When paired with compatible tracking devices, the beacon becomes part of a larger asset visibility system. This setup allows companies to monitor the presence and movement of tagged assets in real time without installing complex tracking hardware on every object.
Connectivity and Communication
The device uses BLE 5.2 to broadcast identification signals that nearby receivers can detect. Bluetooth Low Energy is widely used in industrial tracking systems because it allows devices to transmit information while consuming very little power.
With a maximum transmission distance of up to 100 meters in open areas, the beacon can cover large warehouse spaces or storage zones. Receivers installed on vehicles, gateways, or mobile trackers can pick up these signals and forward them to monitoring platforms.
The beacon also supports iBeacon and Eddystone protocols, which are commonly used beacon communication formats. These standards allow the device to integrate with different tracking systems and software platforms.
Monitoring and Identification
The main role of the WID330 is asset identification rather than full GPS tracking. Each beacon broadcasts a unique identifier that nearby tracking devices can detect and associate with a specific asset.
For example, if a forklift or tracking gateway passes close to a tagged pallet or tool, the system can record its presence and location within the facility. This allows operators to know which assets are present in specific areas or storage zones.
An integrated LED indicator provides visual feedback for device status during installation or configuration. The beacon can also be activated using a magnet, which simplifies deployment by allowing installers to power on devices quickly during setup.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The WID330 runs on a CR2450 battery with a capacity of 620 mAh, designed for long operational life in low-power beacon applications.
Depending on the broadcast interval, the device can operate for extended periods without maintenance. The datasheet lists an approximate lifetime of:
- 2+ years at a 1-second interval
- 5+ years at a 3-second interval
- 8+ years at a 5-second interval
The device is designed for industrial environments. It operates within a –20 °C to +60 °C temperature range and carries an IP67 waterproof rating, protecting it against dust and temporary water exposure.
Installation and Deployment
The beacon is designed for quick and flexible installation. It can be mounted using double-sided tape for fast deployment or secured with screws for more permanent installations.
Its compact 55.7 × 40.5 × 12.9 mm form factor and lightweight design (approximately 19 g including battery) allow it to be attached easily to tools, pallets, containers, or equipment without interfering with normal operations.
