WS201 Description

WS201 is a compact wireless sensor designed to monitor the fill level of small containers, especially tissue boxes. It uses Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology to measure the remaining content accurately within a short range of 1–55 cm . By detecting the distance between the sensor and the material inside the box, it calculates how much remains and reports it as a percentage. This helps facility teams know exactly when refilling is needed, instead of relying on manual checks.
Connectivity and Communication
WS201 communicates over LoRaWAN®, allowing it to send data wirelessly to standard LoRaWAN® gateways and network servers . This enables remote monitoring without complex wiring. The device supports configuration through NFC using a mobile app, making on-site setup simple and fast . Once connected to compatible platforms such as Milesight IoT Cloud, users can view real-time fill levels and manage multiple devices centrally.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
The sensor performs non-contact detection, which means it does not need to physically touch the materials inside the container . This improves hygiene and reduces wear. It can report remaining content as a percentage and trigger threshold alarms when preset levels are reached . This allows maintenance teams to respond before supplies run out. WS201 is powered by a 590mAh CR2450 lithium battery and is designed for ultra-low power consumption. With a typical 60-minute reporting interval, battery life can reach over 3 years under standard conditions . The device operates in temperatures from -10°C to +60°C and supports humidity levels up to 95% (non-condensing). A damp-proof internal coating helps maintain stable performance in bathroom and similar environments . Its compact size (66 × 38 × 12 mm) and lightweight design allow easy installation on flat surfaces using 3M tape.
