WS203 Description
Core Purpose
The WS203 is an environmental monitoring device that combines motion detection with temperature and humidity sensing. It is designed to detect occupancy using passive infrared (PIR) technology and then report environmental conditions over a LoRaWAN® network. By combining motion and environmental sensing in one unit, it helps optimize room usage and indoor comfort. It is suited for spaces where knowing both presence and climate conditions is important.
Connectivity and Communication
The device communicates using LoRaWAN®, allowing it to send data over long distances with low power consumption. It supports standard LoRaWAN® gateways and network servers, making integration into existing IoT systems straightforward. It also supports Milesight D2D communication, enabling direct device-to-device control with ultra-low latency when needed. For setup, NFC allows one-touch configuration through a mobile app. To protect data integrity, the device stores up to 1,000 records locally and supports data retransmission in case of temporary network interruptions.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
The WS203 uses a PIR sensor with a detection range of up to 6 meters and a wide detection angle. When motion is detected, it can trigger temperature and humidity reporting, enabling event-based environmental monitoring. The built-in temperature sensor operates from –20°C to +60°C, while humidity measurement covers 0–100% RH. This allows the device to monitor indoor comfort levels across a wide range of conditions. Different PIR covers are available to adjust detection angles and coverage areas. This flexibility makes it suitable for various room layouts and mounting positions.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The device is powered by a 4000 mAh Li-SOCl₂ battery, supporting long-term operation. Depending on configuration and reporting intervals, battery life can reach over 10 years under typical conditions. It operates in temperatures from –20°C to +60°C and supports up to 95% non-condensing humidity. The enclosure is made of flame-retardant UL94 V0 material for added safety. With IP30 protection and compact dimensions (73 × 73 × 26 mm), it is designed for indoor wall mounting using 3M tape or screws.
