D2D is a communication shortcut between compatible Milesight devices. A leak sensor detects water, broadcasts a D2D trigger over LoRaWAN, and a nearby controller closes a valve – all within 1-2 seconds. No cloud platform is in the loop. A standard cloud-routed LoRaWAN command would take 5-30 seconds.
D2D only works between compatible Milesight devices, but it requires no extra infrastructure – just a shared LoRaWAN channel. Useful anywhere a physical response cannot wait for a cloud round-trip:
- Water leak triggers immediate valve closure in a plant room
- Door sensor triggers a siren or access log on the same LoRaWAN network
- Occupancy sensor adjusts a thermostat controller without cloud dependency
- Motion detector activates a lighting relay in a smart building zone
