D2D is a LoRaWAN extension where one Milesight device broadcasts a trigger and another responds in roughly 1-2 seconds, without routing through a network server. A standard cloud-routed LoRaWAN command takes 5-30 seconds. D2D is used where immediate physical response matters – a leak sensor closing a valve, an occupancy sensor adjusting a thermostat, a door sensor activating a siren. It only works between compatible Milesight devices but requires no additional infrastructure.
