Core Purpose

RS42 is a compact industrial router designed to provide reliable internet connectivity in demanding environments. It supports both cellular and wired communication, making it suitable for fixed installations and mobile setups. The device focuses on maintaining stable connections for critical operations.

Connectivity and Communication

The router connects across multiple cellular technologies, allowing it to adapt to different network conditions. With dual SIM support, it can switch between operators to maintain uptime. Automatic failover ensures continuous connectivity if the primary link becomes unavailable. It also includes Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), enabling nearby devices to connect wirelessly. This allows the router to act as a central communication point for both wired and wireless networks.

Security and Data Transmission

Secure data handling is built into the device. It supports VPN technologies such as OpenVPN and IPsec, helping protect transmitted information. Firewall and encryption features add an extra layer of protection against unauthorised access and network threats.

Monitoring and Network Management

The device includes tools for monitoring connection health and maintaining uptime. Features like automatic reboot and connection checks help detect and resolve issues quickly. This is especially useful for remote or unattended deployments.

Power and Environmental Suitability

The router is designed for industrial conditions, operating reliably in temperatures from –40 °C to +65 °C. It supports a wide 9–54 V DC power input, making it adaptable to different power systems. The aluminium housing with IP30 protection supports use in indoor industrial environments.

Expansion and I/O Support

With GPI and GPO interfaces, the device can interact with external equipment for control and monitoring tasks. It also supports PoE IN and PoE OUT, which can simplify installation by allowing power delivery through Ethernet. These features make integration into industrial systems more flexible.

Product Variants

The RS42 is available in LTE CAT.4 and CAT.6 versions with the same industrial features, including dual SIM, failover, and VPN support. CAT.4 offers up to 150 Mbps with additional legacy network support, while CAT.6 delivers up to 300 Mbps for higher performance applications.
