IWR405 overview
Core Purpose
IWR405 is an industrial-grade router with a high-performance processor and wireless module, running an embedded real-time operating system. It links serial equipment, Ethernet devices and Wi-Fi clients so data can move between them. Dual SIM with intelligent switching keeps the terminal online for industrial IoT and M2M.
Connectivity and Communication
The platform is 4G LTE or 5G RedCap, according to the order code. There are five 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports: one WAN/LAN with passive PoE, and four LAN ports, with PoE on the LAN group on IWR405-5P. Built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) serves local clients. VPN options are IPsec, OpenVPN and WireGuard, with an SPI firewall and DDoS protection. An MQTT gateway forwards data to HTTP, MQTT or Azure; remote management is through the platform or a PC client.
Industrial Integration and Data Handling
RS232 and RS485 connect controllers and metres, with Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU for status and control. One digital input (0–6 V low, 8–30 V high) and one digital output (open collector, 30 V / 50 mA) handle sensors and actuators. Bridging and transparent transmission move payloads between serial, Ethernet and cellular.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The specification lists DC 9–36 V, typically 12 V / 1.5 A, with reverse-polarity and over-voltage protection. The aluminium IP30 case is 116 × 114 × 43 mm, weighs 456.9 g, and runs from –40 °C to +75 °C. Rail and wall mounting suit control cabinets. Ethernet has 1.5 kV isolation; serial has 1.5 kV ESD protection; the SIM interface has 15 kV ESD protection. EMC is Level 3 and above.
