Fleet management is the day-to-day oversight of company vehicles – knowing where they are, how they are being driven, whether they are due for service, and whether fuel and mileage costs are under control. A fleet manager at a distribution company uses a telematics platform to see all of this from a single screen.
The hardware and software work together: GPS trackers collect raw data, the platform turns it into reports and alerts.
- Real-time tracking – live map showing every vehicle, its speed, and last stop
- Driver behaviour – per-driver scores for braking, acceleration, cornering, and speeding
- Fuel management – consumption per trip, idle time reports, anomaly detection
- Maintenance scheduling – mileage and engine hour alerts for scheduled servicing
- Compliance – driver hours records, tachograph data, and FORS reporting
