FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators working in the UK. It sets standards across safety, environmental performance, and operational efficiency – and awards Bronze, Silver, and Gold ratings based on compliance level. Many London construction and logistics contracts now require at least FORS Bronze as a condition of tendering.
FORS accreditation is assessed against a published standard that covers driver licensing checks, vehicle maintenance records, incident reporting, fuel monitoring, and camera fitment requirements. For fleet managers, the practical implication is that telematics data supports FORS compliance:
- Bronze – basic requirements: vehicle checks, driver licence verification, annual mileage and fuel returns
- Silver – adds driver risk assessment, collision investigation, CCTV on vehicles, and progressive safe systems
- Gold – adds benchmarking against industry peers and annual reaccreditation audit
- Telematics role – fuel data, driver scores, mileage records, and collision events all feed directly into FORS reporting
