Overview
The F8L10C is a compact embedded wireless communication module designed to enable long-range data transmission in IoT systems. It uses LoRa technology to transfer small amounts of data efficiently across wide areas, making it suitable for devices that must communicate over long distances while consuming very little power.
Because the module is extremely small and lightweight, it can be embedded directly into electronic devices such as sensors, metres, and industrial controllers. This allows manufacturers to add wireless connectivity to equipment without significantly increasing device size or energy usage.
The module communicates using LoRa modulation and supports multiple LoRa network protocols, including LoRaWAN 1.0.2, LinkWAN, and CLAA. These protocols allow devices to send data through LoRa networks and cloud platforms for remote monitoring and control.
The module supports ISM frequency bands from 150 MHz to 960 MHz, allowing it to operate in different regional LoRa networks worldwide. This flexibility helps manufacturers deploy IoT devices in multiple geographic markets without redesigning the wireless system.
With transmit power up to 22 dBm, the module can maintain reliable communication across long distances, especially in low-bandwidth IoT applications such as sensor reporting and device status monitoring.
Reliable communication is supported by very high receiver sensitivity, reaching –139 dBm at 125 kHz bandwidth with SF12. High sensitivity allows the module to detect extremely weak signals, which is important for long-range wireless communication or installations where devices operate in challenging environments such as underground infrastructure or dense urban areas.
This capability allows IoT devices to send and receive data even when located far from LoRa gateways, reducing infrastructure requirements for large deployments.
The F8L10C is designed for low-power IoT applications. It operates with a 3.3V DC supply and keeps energy consumption low during communication and standby modes.
During reception, the module consumes less than 10 mA, while transmission at maximum output power consumes under 120 mA. In deep sleep mode, consumption can drop below 2 µA, allowing battery-powered devices to remain operational for extended periods.
These characteristics make the module suitable for remote monitoring systems and sensor devices that must operate for long periods without frequent battery replacement.
The module uses a compact stamp-hole packaging design measuring approximately 15 × 16 × 2.5 mm and weighing around 2 g. This format allows easy surface mounting onto circuit boards during manufacturing.
Its embedded ARM Cortex-M4-based LoRa SoC architecture integrates the processing and wireless functions into a single module. This simplifies device development by reducing the need for additional components.
The module also supports serial port software upgrades, allowing firmware updates during product maintenance or feature expansion.
The F8L10C is designed to operate in demanding industrial environments. It supports an operating temperature range from –40 °C to +85 °C and can tolerate storage temperatures up to +125 °C.
With support for 95% non-condensing humidity, the module can function in outdoor or industrial deployments where environmental conditions may vary significantly.

Applications
The F8L10C is well suited for smart energy and utility monitoring systems such as electricity, gas, and water metres. Its long-range LoRa connectivity allows metres to transmit consumption data periodically to centralised platforms without requiring wired infrastructure. The module’s low power consumption enables devices to operate for years on battery power.
In transportation infrastructure, the module can support communication between distributed sensors and monitoring platforms. Devices installed in road systems, traffic monitoring equipment, or infrastructure sensors can transmit operational data across LoRa networks for centralised analysis and management.
Municipal water systems often require large numbers of distributed sensors and metres across wide geographic areas. The module’s long-range communication and low-power design allow water metres and monitoring devices to report usage data or system status remotely.
Industrial facilities can embed the module into sensors and monitoring equipment to collect operational data from machines or environmental systems. LoRa connectivity enables long-distance communication within large industrial sites while maintaining low energy consumption.
The compact design of the module makes it suitable for embedding in infrastructure monitoring equipment. Devices installed in remote or hard-to-access locations can transmit status information through LoRa networks, allowing centralised systems to monitor performance and detect issues without physical inspections.
