Overview
The FBL800-00 LoRaWAN Base Station is designed to collect data from large numbers of LoRaWAN sensors and transmit that data to cloud platforms. It acts as a bridge between low-power field devices and centralised management systems. The gateway connects LoRaWAN nodes such as smart metres, environmental sensors, and monitoring devices. Data received from these devices can then be forwarded to remote servers through Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 4G, or 5G networks. This allows organisations to monitor and manage distributed IoT devices from a central platform.
The base station supports LoRaWAN communication using Class A and Class C modes, allowing it to interact with a wide range of IoT nodes depending on their power and communication requirements. Devices can transmit sensor readings to the gateway, which then forwards the data to cloud services. Multiple backhaul options are available. The gateway can transmit data using Ethernet, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), or cellular connectivity such as 4G or 5G, giving operators flexibility when deploying the device in different environments. This connectivity flexibility makes it suitable for both fixed infrastructure installations and locations where wired internet may not be available.
The LoRa radio allows the base station to communicate with remote sensors over long distances. In urban environments, communication can reach up to 9 km using SF12, depending on surrounding conditions. The gateway supports multi-channel LoRa communication with 8 uplink channels and 1 downlink channel, enabling it to manage data from multiple devices simultaneously. Adaptive link rates allow devices to adjust communication parameters to maintain reliable transmission. High sensitivity (up to -140 dBm) also helps ensure that signals from distant or low-power devices can still be received by the gateway.
The gateway includes several mechanisms designed to keep the device online and stable during continuous operation. A watchdog (WDT) protection system automatically monitors the system and helps prevent software failures. Anti-drop mechanisms ensure the device reconnects automatically if a network interruption occurs. Remote configuration and centralised management software allow administrators to monitor the device, configure settings, and maintain the system without needing on-site access.
The device supports flexible power options for different deployment environments. It can operate using AC power between 100–277 V or through PoE+ (802.3af/at) up to 25 W, simplifying installation in outdoor infrastructure. Its enclosure combines an ABS housing with a metal heat-dissipation base and IP67 protection, helping protect the electronics from dust, water, and outdoor environmental conditions. The gateway can operate in demanding environments with an operating temperature range of −35 °C to +75 °C, making it suitable for outdoor IoT installations in a wide range of climates.
The base station provides several physical interfaces for connectivity and management. These include a 10/100M RJ45 Ethernet port, a Type-C serial port, and a SIM card slot for cellular communication. An optional TF card slot (8GB or 32GB) allows local storage when needed. LED indicators provide visual status for power, network connectivity, LoRa operation, cellular communication, and Wi-Fi. The compact enclosure measures 240 × 150 × 100 mm and can be installed using wall mounting or pole mounting depending on deployment requirements.

Applications
Utility providers can use the gateway to collect readings from distributed water, gas, or electricity metres. LoRaWAN communication allows metres to transmit data over long distances while maintaining low power consumption.
Environmental monitoring networks often rely on widely distributed sensors. The gateway enables these sensors to send environmental measurements such as temperature, air quality, or water levels to centralised monitoring platforms.
In disaster management scenarios, sensors deployed across large areas can report conditions such as flooding or structural movement. The gateway aggregates this information and sends it to monitoring systems that support early warning and response planning.
Cities and infrastructure operators can deploy LoRaWAN sensors for monitoring lighting systems, public facilities, and infrastructure conditions. The base station provides the communication bridge that connects these devices to management platforms.
