RX44x2 overview
Core Purpose
The RX44x2 is an industrial router designed to provide stable and continuous network connectivity in demanding environments. It is built to handle critical communication tasks where downtime is not acceptable. The dual-module design ensures that the device can maintain a connection even if one network fails.
Connectivity and Communication
The device supports a wide range of cellular technologies and uses two independent modules for redundancy. This allows automatic failover between connections, helping maintain uninterrupted communication. Dual SIM capability adds flexibility by allowing different operators or data plans to be used.
In addition to cellular connectivity, the router includes Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz for local wireless access and four Ethernet ports for wired devices. This makes it easy to connect multiple systems within one network.
Monitoring and Network Management
The router includes built-in tools for monitoring connection status and maintaining uptime. Features like ping reboot and periodic checks help detect and recover from connection issues automatically. Which RX model do I need?
Decide two things. Network: 4G LTE (RX44, RX44x2) or 5G RedCap with LTE fallback (RX54, RX54x2). Redundancy: one cellular module, or two independent modules in the x2 versions that keep the link up if one network fails.
What is the difference between LTE CAT.4 and CAT.6?
CAT.4 reaches up to 150 Mbps downlink and falls back to 3G (HSPA) and 2G (EDGE, GPRS, GSM). CAT.6 reaches up to 300 Mbps and falls back to 3G only; there is no 2G on CAT.6.
What is 5G RedCap?
RedCap (Reduced Capability) is a lighter 5G NR profile defined in 3GPP Release 17 for industrial IoT. RX54 delivers up to 220 Mbps downlink and 120 Mbps uplink and falls back to LTE where 5G coverage is limited.
Which models have GNSS?
The single-module RX44 and RX54 include a GPS, GLONASS and Galileo receiver. The dual-module RX44x2 and RX54x2 do not.
Can the router be powered over Ethernet?
Yes. Passive PoE-in on Ethernet port 1 accepts 8–30 V, in addition to the 8–30 V DC Microfit4 power input.
Which VPN tunnels are supported?
OpenVPN (one server and several clients), IPsec IKEv1/IKEv2, WireGuard, GRE, EoIP, PPTP, L2TPv2/v3 and DMVPN.
